"Lady on the Moon"

The piece Lady on the Moon, the detached torso is cut in various ways, it is almost unrecognizable as a human form. The skin looks like a hard shell, practically as hard as a stone with abnormal growths sprouting from the surface. The eerie chilled color separates this bust even further away from the soft, warm glow of human skin. With this body of work, I pull from my personal experiences, I am a "white-passing" woman of color, which presents specific challenges given today's political climate in the USA. The drive behind this work comes from moments where I did not feel whole with myself.
