"You Belong Amoung The Wildflowers"

10"x7"x16" In this mosaic, each piece of glass is hand cut with powered glass in between to create lines. The base is a piece of softly carved wood, found while vagabonding across the United States in Spring of 2019. I made this sculpture while on staff at Pilchuck Glass School later that year. The title, a reference to a Tom Petty song, speaks to the freedom and liberation I felt while traveling and living in the wilderness. During this time I was pondering where glass and nature intersect, and what visual language could be used to illustrate that connection. This was photographed on Pilchuck Tree Farm, overlooking the Puget Sound.

Type of glass used: Bullseye

Type of kiln used: Paragon (small front loader)
