"Elevations"

Elevations is informed by architectural drawings. I used the idea of isometric projection- a visual representation of a 3D building in a 2D drawing- in reverse, bringing the architectural plan to life in sculpture. I chose three building materials - glass, metal and wood - to create this work. Glass is the central element, chosen for its translucency, delicacy and unique imperfections resulting from the casting process. I am drawn to the contradiction between the glass' inherent qualities and its use as a building structure. Glass is fragile, traditionally decorative, yet ever-lasting- I use it as the structure's essential element. 51 x 51 x 51cm. Cast Bullseye glass, zinc threaded rod, wood.
