"Teardrop, blunted."

I'm afraid that this piece is rather personal, with layered meanings. I have Complex-PTSD, and one of its aspects is my inability to keep crying, even when I desperately need to. The tears start...and immediately stop. Disassociation. My family experienced a sudden tragedy in 2019, and a relative is worried too that she cannot cry at all. I wanted to convey this frustration, this stymying of an outpouring of inability to access and vent the grief that remains within. I also wanted to produce a work that connected me with the person I've lost: she would have adored the colours and tones, the shared love of being near or submerged in water and experiencing its ethereal, dancing light amidst the shapes and textures - and, moreover, I feel that she would have been proud of this glasswork.
