Name of Work:"Four Seasons Masks"

"Four Seasons Masks"

Each of the four masks represents a different aspect of the natural world: a winter clearing, summer orchard, spring desert, and autumn woodland. They each measure 10" x 10". The three-dimensional elements are hand-sculpted without molds using powders mixed with a binder and liquid medium of my own formulation. These are placed on a shaped mask template cut from Tekta, and multiple layers of frit and powders are built up to make the landscape background. The masks are then draped over a ceramic form and mounted on a glass background panel.
