"Transendance"

This piece explores life cycles and transending our traditional understanding of life. I wanted to create a piece that had both depth and fragility. The dragonfly is powerful yet delicate and I wanted to capture this unsung glass. Her body is made of fused opaque and dichroic glass, while her wings are made by screen printing fine frit and then adding a decal design. The water represents a physical boundary between the dragonfly and her young. Thin, transparent yet impenetrable. this has been created using clear glass with a painted oxide design between the layers and metal inclusions.
