"Closer to Home"

My work has been about the tidal landscape of the shore just a 5 minute walk away from my home; but over the last couple of months this usually quite deserted space has become almost crowded and my focus has turned closer to home, to my garden and the trees that surround it. This piece has been inspired by the colours and bark of the silver birch trees that seem to self-seed themselves everywhere they can. I have also challenged myself to create a form which displays both the matt, textured surface of the glass (which I love) and the glowing, shiny reverse side (which everyone else loves!).

Type of glass used: Bullseye glass powder and tekta on a fibre paper 'mould'.

Type of kiln used: Kilncare Profuser
