"Hōkai (Decay) - A threatening farewell / I accept my future / Silencing life"

The very fragile magnolia is treated with a mix of the finest frit available and wallpaper paste. The mix is powdered over the magnolia and dried. Once ready it is buried in 'Lommel' sand, the finest sand found in Belgium and fused. During the fusing proces the magnolia burns aways at a very slow pace, letting the glass the chance to fuse together and take the shape of the magnolia. Because the magnolia is a very fragile plant some parts of it will burn away immediately which gives a decayed appearance of the magnolia.
