"Anthropomorphized Waves"

Large cast glass sculpture based upon my observations of oceanic waves. Inspired by cultural interpretations of the natural world, I aimed to anthropomorphize waves in my own way. Individual figures were modelled and incorporated into one form suggesting that the wave is comprised of them. The water spirits’ circular motion beneath the sea’s surface generates wave forms above it. Different perspectives as well as the depth of glass reveal and conceal the spirits questioning their existence. The figures become caught up in the swirling motion losing all control. The lost wax process was used.
