"Silk Moths"

The moths represent the stages in the production of silk; from initial extraction of the thread to the eventual decay of the fabric. Stringers were used to emulate silken fibres and pâte de verre for the cocoon. The fragile nature of the glass mirrors the ephemeral qualities of the moths.
