Name of Work:"Contemplating"
Third Line:Open Glass Artists 2020

'Contemplating' is a staged psychological scenario. I take my sculptures underwater to interact with the environment and sea life. A chair represents dialogue and contemplation. We remember, plan, think, rest and communicate whilst seated. The ephemeral quality of glass is perfect producing a fleeting encounter with the changing underwater world. It becomes part of the environment. Sea creatures are attracted to the reflections produced as light bounces off the surface. My work is titled as a prompt but is open for personal interpretation on an emotional level or as a wider societal response considering ocean conservation.
